Christianity and Horror - Finally!
Finally, someone other than myself to talk to. So far, my Christian colleagues shake their heads and walk away when they find out what I'm up to, and my new horror friends think it's so cool that I take their favorite movies so seriously, but they're just not always too sure about all that God talk, as though I'm Flanders from the Simpsons in disguise and I'm going to start thumping a Bible and trying to drive the evil spirits out of their tattooed, multiply-pierced bodies. But John Morehead has jumped right in and started bringing like-minded people together in a potentially constructive way. Check out his blog and some of the others he mentions in his post:

I must admit to not having watched any zombie movies (I'm more into books than movies), but around here there are occasional newspaper reports of people being attacked, or their houses burnt down, because they are rumoured to keep zombies.
I'm on record as seeing Romero as a prophet of the times to come....

Wow, rumors of zombie attacks. The new bestseller World War Z speculates that's exactly how the outbreak will first start.
And yes on Romero as a prophet. If I ever do a second edition of the book (here's hoping) I'd play up that angle a lot more. I mostly focused on the Dantean aspects, but I do think Romero acts very much like an Old Testament prophet - cranky, resigned, passionate.
It probably isn't news, but I found this. Interesting reference to Katrina.
A very good article I spotted over Christmas break. I certainly wish I could've gotten some publicity out of it directly, but anything that gets the word out about zombies is good.
