In these Troubled Times...

Nothing like a zombie flick to make you feel like things aren't so bad!

Well, having read The Monster Show: A Cultural History of Horror by David J. Skal, this confirmation of the link between social trauma and horror cinema comes as no surprise to me. Out of curiosity, have you had a chance to read any of Skal's work, Kim? If not, you should probably check out the aforementioned work.

I think the author is using statistics as a prostitute uses a lampost: for support rather than illumination.

What constitutes a zombie movie? Is this the complete list? Why include some foreign films and not others? Why include some indies and not others. Is it even possible to develop a comprehensive list? What effect does changing technology and, more to the point, increasing ease of distribution, have on the correlation?

I'm not saying he's wrong. Just that I want to see the math.
